Hey guys just thought I would let you know about getting covers to protect your bed and getting reinfected with scabies as I do not see many posts on here in regards to mattress covers for your bed.

Here is a site with scabies mattress covers:

Scabies Mattress Covers

Keep in mind though you will still need to launder your bedding and clothing!

I got some of these covers last week and they are definetely helping me get sleep and peice of mind. I have no new scabies rashes either so I am assuming my treatment and the mattress covers are helping.

If you can't currently afford buying the mattress covers would it be safe to just leave my bed in another room for a few weeks and just use an air mattress? Will the scabies on the mattress die within a few weeks so I can continue using the mattress? The reason I ask is because my mattress is only a month old and I would hate to throw it out because of the scabies.

At Walmart, I found 3 GIANT sheets of "painters plastic" and it was only like $1.32. It's plastic you put on the floor when you are painting. Well I have a twin bed and it was definately big enough to cover a double or queen. So I used all 3 sheets, and wrapped the top, bottom, sides, everywhere of my mattress. Then I put my sheets over it, and left the plastic there for 3 weeks. And I washed my sheets every single day for a week after my Permethrin treatment.

Thank you I got the mattress covers and have yet to wake up with any more rashes so I am hoping scabies is over now.
