its literally about 4 years since i was treated for scabies, when i had it i itched like mad and had red spots etc. after treatment i was pretty convinced it had gone.

however, since then, after all this time i still occasionally get a scabies-like itch. i highly doubt this could be actual scabies as it only happens now and then, and i dont have any rash or spots. is this some sort of post-scabies skin reaction?? or sometimes i dont know if im just imagining the entire thing, as skin can occasionally itch in normal life anyway right?? i did have scabies for quite a while before i was treated for it, if that helps.

by the way i posted this question on another forum but got no help at all so hoping this one will be better...

Likely, you still have some of the dead mites or their debris underneath your skin which is causing an allergic reaction still, this happens alot, in some cases people need to use a steroid cream topically. Try using sulfur soaps in the shower it will help take off layers of your skin.

Thanks...do u think its definately post scabies then, is there any chance i could still have actual scabies? it seems highly unlikely to me but i want to be sure.

You will know by determining the itch if it is more active, the best time is at night when you would feel a live active scabies itch, or if you wake up with scratch marks on you this is another good sign of reinfestation or you still have active scabies! Post scabies will itch though during the day but it will be like a normal itch and slowly goes away day after day as your skin surfaces the scabies mites debris and dead mites from underneath the skin.

use a mixture of oregano oil with a moisturizer on your skin.

You guys are still itching after your scabies treatment because it is typical with post scabies. Once the mites are dead you are still left with scabies fecal matter and the bodies of the dead mites trapped under your skin which causes the irritation/allergies that cause your skin to itch. In some cases it may even seem like you still have scabies. Remember active scabies will feel alive more during the evening hours when they are most active and moving around, this is why you scratch yourself in your sleep.

I recommend getting the scabies family pack which comes with creams to kill scabies and even get rid of post scabies quickly as it comes with sulfur soaps which contain exfoliants. It works very well and can save you months of itching and scabies like symptoms.

Here is the site:

Scabies Family Pack and sulfur soaps

They also have mattress covers and pocket microscopes which can help you prevent re-infestation and figure out what areas to pay more attention to.

This should help!

Well if it has been years and you just started getting itchy again it likely is not scabie re-infection unless you were reintroduced to scabies again from someone else. I know that the second time you catch scabies the signs can not show for awhile but years after being cured tells me its allergies to something else maybe the laundry detergent you are using. Scabies have been known to live off humans for up to 7 days depending on conditions but anything longer than that they cannot survive.
